Really enjoyed this book. It was great to see Zane and Lucky's relationship continue to develop and to see Zane start trusting in Lucky's love for him. Love the underlying story involving Noah and Braydon and the twists in that side plot. My only complaint is that Leo wasn't in the story for very long and neither was Leeds. The story also seemed to jump in places so I felt I missed some of the development of the relationship between Lucky and Zane - a whole month was jumped near the end. Still rated 4 stars and will definitely read the others in the series.Tags : The Last Husband (Forever Love Book 2) - Kindle edition by J. S. Cooper. The Last Husband Forever Love Book 2 edition by J S Cooper Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I always feel bad when writing less than stellar reviews, yet, I heavily base my book choices on reviews so I feel like I need to be honest.
With that said, everyone else appreciates books in different ways.
This book has a decent storyline, with some twist and turns, drama, likeable characters. Yet, at the same time, it's highly unbelievable, the characters are whiny which drives me bat#### crazy, and it lacks depth.
I bought all 3 books when they were on sale .99 after reading a good review on twitter or facebook... I'm not disappointed that I bought them, but I would have been disappointed if I paid more than .99/each. The books are relativly short (200pgs) compared to most other books I read and while the storyline drew me in, and rather quickly, I don't know if these would be books that I would keep on my device to re-read.
As I usually point out in my reviews too, I'm big on grammar, spelling, formatting, etc...
While this book is better in this area than book 1, there are still grammar, spelling, and formating mistakes.
This book was a real drag at the beginning. I mean it started off from when the first book ended so for about a good 30% of this book it takes you through the next WHOLE day after Zane and Lucky confesses their love for each other. It gets a little boring, there are conversations in there that I just felt we could've done without then there was just the constant going back and fourth of Zane thinking he wasn't good enough for Lucky and Lucky thinking that Zane didn't love her... it just became a tug of war which is why I thought it was boring. It was just repeated conversations really.
And then....
The next 30% is about their second WHOLE day... gahhhh!!! Talk about boring overload! I mean there were a few interesting moments there but overall.. it was boring!
And Lucky... what is up with her and starting up arguments with Zane infront of people, does this girl have no common sense at all?
Overall, the book was OK. After the snail trail that I thought would only last at the beginning of book... but the dragging actually took you right up until the book almost ended. There were a few weird moments and minimal drama inbetween, this book was just EEHH... nothing life changing and I don't think this series is something that would actually stick with me, but hey... each to their own.
While The Last Boyfriend was a book I loved, there was constant tension and questioning of Zane's motives and true feelings.
Well, with Lucky having learned of Zane's abandonment by his mother at age 6 and the tragic death of his brother Noah the year before, Zane is keeping fewer secrets and their relationship is allowed some room to breathe and deepen. Of course, Zane has not yet shared all with Lucky, he can't as he works to exact revenge on Braydon for dealing drugs he blames for his brother's death. I loved when Zane & Lucky were interviewing Mr. Pierce(?) for the civil rights documentary, and other times when Lucky's expertise in history comes up. I didn't know what Zane was intending with Leo for Lucky because he was still believing himself to be unworthy of her and he was still unsure of giving his whole heart to her and risking having it crushed. Zane's secrets don't stay secret forever though and he and Lucky have to really work to keep their love in the turmoil of it all. I commend them for working through things as they came up. Zane and Lucky express their love for one another in 'poems' and they were really beautiful! The author is to be commended on their beauty!! And Zane comes to believe that Lucky loves him completely and.... there is an incredible HEA at the end, well it's given away with the title of the book. Zane's words when he asks Lucky to marry him again, ...Magic! I'm usually pretty good at predicting plot twists and turns and I had NO IDEA WHAT TWIST WAS COMING AT THE END after Zane's vengeance against Braydon is satisfied. Oh, I haven't mentioned how hot Zane & Lucky's relationship is yet? While I loved that she actually told him, '.. no, we have work to do...' etc. and they weren't continually in bed, I do have to say that my glasses steamed up a bit at the beach. Read the book and see what I'm talking about!! (& OH, the beach is not the only steamy scene, you won't be disappointed!) I'm so glad that Lucky (& I) held on to our belief in Zane, that he could let down his guard, he could heal, he could trust his heart with Lucky. I was thrilled with the book and you will be too!
BONUS The author tells us after the epilogue that there will be a prequel called Before Lucky, a story for Leo (loved him once I knew what Zane wanted from him), and oh yeah another story. And the author said that we will get to follow Lucky & Zane's HEA through the other books as well. I for one CANNOT WAIT!!!
