Poweless collects several x-titles across a plot arc from the early 2000s: Uncanny X-men 379-380; Cable 78; X-Force 101; Wolverine 149; X-men 99. These issues neatly forshadow the events that the X-men are currently dealing with after M-day and the Legacy Virus. In these issues the High Evolutionary decides mutants pose a threat to the genetic diversity of earth and de-powers them. Of course the High Evolutionary's plan to preserve the peace on earth goes horribly awry and the x-men have to save the day.
The strength of these issues rests in ambiguous feelings the x-men have with their powers. Each superpower is also a curse in its own way, and the love-hate relationship that is an inner conflict within each mutant comes to the front in this collection.
Unfortunately, the art of some of these issues does not seem to hold up well. The characters lack detail, especially in the Uncanny issues. And the Cable/X-force issues' artwork is a rather bubble-gummy saturday-morning cartoon fair. X-men 99 is by far the best artwork.
All in all "Powerless" collects a solid story that peers into the inner-conflict that mutants deal with on a daily basis. The strength of the portraits of mutants wrestling with their human-ness beats the weakness of some of the art. A solid buy for x-fans.

Xmen Powerless 9781448745081 Books Reviews
I tried to like this, I really did. I really enjoyed "M Day" that happened a few years back when there the Scarlet Witch uttered the words, "No More Mutants," and changed the Marvel universe for a while. But this was just a disappointment. I don't see how Wolverine could use his claws if he no longer had any mutant powers. From what I've been able to gather, his claws and his ability to pop them in and out is part of his mutant ability. But I guess that depends on who is writing him.
The story is just poorly written and the artwork is just okay. The artwork in Cable and X-Factor looked a little too cartoony and didn't really live up to my expectations.
The only good parts of the comic were the artwork from the Wolverine, X-Men and Uncanny X-Men comics. It just wasn't very good to me.
